Sportmax RTW Spring 2018

2 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Sportmax hasn't given up its fitness regime, but it's not taking itself quite as seriously as last season when the knits were emblazoned with “Run” and the skirt suits cried out “Ready, Steady.”
The brand took a less literal approach, slipping racing stripes onto the waistbands of shrunken leather bombers or skinny rib knits, and down the legs of cropped trousers. The design team turned those strips into waistbands or straps on silky draped Greek goddess dresses and others with racer backs.
Outerwear was a major improvement on last season, too, with lightweight silky anoraks in colors like...

Rossella Jardini RTW Spring 2018

2 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Rossella Jardini's mix of feminine elegance and ironic playfulness was clearly in evidence in her spring 2018 collection. The classic white shirt served as the starting point for the whole lineup. The staple was re-interpreted in an array of variations. A crisp cotton shirt featured seductive cutouts at the shoulders and was matched with a skirt trimmed with ruffles. Another micro striped style with a patch pocket was knotted below the bust and matched with a circle skirt. Shirt dresses included a short, flared style worked in a polka dot pattern, as well as a maxi number splashed with a...

Damir Doma RTW Spring 2018

2 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Damir Doma, who hosted a co-ed spring show in June, presented a collection called Addition for spring 2018. Conceived as a functional wardrobe of daywear women's pieces, the lineup was infused with a sense of easy elegance. The designer tempered his conceptual minimalism to introduce a lively, airy feel, which was heightened by a sophisticated palette that mixed neutral tones with vibrant hues, and lightweight fabrics. Seersucker was doubled dyed to obtain interesting color effects on a green loose trench coat worn over a top and wide pants worked in a violet hue. A bleached effect was...

Moschino: Ready-to-Wear SS18

Moschino: Ready-to-Wear SS18

Say it with flowers. Say it with Gigi. Or, alternatively, say it as with Gigi AS flowers. A bunch of them. “Florals? They're always a thing for spring,” says Jeremy. “But they've never bloomed with so much boom as on the Moschino Spring runway for 2018.” I mean, you have to admire how Mr Scott picks a theme and sprints with it - big, pansy-like capes, mini-dresses and ghillie body-suits made entirely with flowers, the same flowers spilling out of thigh-high boots. Gowns that opened-out like butterfly wings, or poufs of tulle with hundreds of butterflies flitting around them.
Oh - and punk...

Moschino RTW Spring 2018

2 monthes ago   |   By WWD

Where to begin with Jeremy Scott's spring Moschino show: “the story of Kaia Gerber's life,” as he called the show's first act; or the finale, Gigi Hadid as a literal bouquet of flowers? The latter was a little more fun so let's start there. There is perhaps no more unoriginal design concept than florals for spring, so Scott embraced the obvious and went berserk with it. The finale was abloom with grand gowns shaped like orchids, tiger lilies, a monarch butterfly, an upside-down bouquet of long-stem roses, a blob of purple feathers sprung with butterflies that actually brought to mind a...
